Ottilie Short is an artist and woodworker living on Vancouver Island. She is inspired by vernacular furniture history, in particular, staked joinery and regional chairmaking traditions.  She spent her childhood on the Welsh border and has a special interest in the Welsh stick chair.

She aspires to make heirloom-quality chairs for everyday use, custom-fit to the user: when your body is not the average size that mass-produced furniture is designed for, it is a revelation and comfort to be held by a hand-carved seat and backrest sized to fit you.
